Why this page exists
Farmland and agriculture can be rewarding long-term assets, but they carry real risks. We want you to understand them before you decide. This page applies to all SmartAgro projects; each project also has its own documents and disclosures.
No guaranteed returns
We do not guarantee any yield, income, harvest value or land value. Any figures we share are projections based on assumptions and past cycles. They can turn out lower, or higher, than projected.
Agricultural risk
- Weather, drought, floods, pests and disease can reduce or destroy crops.
- Tree growth and heartwood formation in sandalwood vary from tree to tree.
- Long-cycle crops are exposed to these risks over many years.
Market risk
Prices for sandalwood, fruit, milk, and other produce are set by the market at the time of sale and can fall. Demand can change.
Land value risk
Land values can rise or fall. Infrastructure plans near a project may be delayed, changed or cancelled.
Regulatory risk
Laws on agricultural land, crop cultivation, harvest, transport, sale and taxation can change, and may affect outcomes. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances; consult a qualified adviser.
Liquidity
Farmland and partnership interests are not easy to sell quickly. Plan to hold for the full cycle.
Structure-specific risk
For farmland projects, the land is registered in your name and the farm is run under a management agreement, so outcomes depend on the operator’s performance.
Before you decide
Visit the farm, read every agreement, take independent legal and tax advice, and ask us anything. Write to info@gosmartagro.com or call +91 91102 23393.
